Seen the Indonesian ones before on eBoo but as usual nobody knows who
they are and so they are usually described as “prince and princess”, “lovers”, “girl with fancy head dress” etc. The problem they have is that they don't know the magnificent @Any Jewelry who is the the go to guru for Indonesian carvings. So what do you think AJ? Goddess and native guy??
As for the Asian Gentleman I'll do my best to shoot myself in the foot:bag:

    Here we go

“I think he is Japanese because of the hairstyle”

There. Now shoot me down in flames.:nailbiting:

    Data - girl 22.3cm High 0.45Kg
    guy 21cm High 0.58Kg
    old guy 31.5cm High 2.21Kg

Male figures look like Japanese mudmen?? which are ceramic. Correct me if that's incorrect, plz. Others here know all the why's and wherefores about them.

    Native girl and native guy.:D

    First row girl djanger dancer:
The djanger dance was popular in Balinese village squares in the 1930s, but Djanger carvings were made after that time as well. It sells, so it is made.:)
She is a nice early piece, 1930s-40s, very good quality.

Second row, Balinese young man, probably part of a set, missing a girl. He is stunning, probably late 40s-50s.
They are generally called Loro Blonyo, after Javanese bridal figurines. Here is my Balinese set, 1930s:

The man in the other two rows is Chinese, my guess 1940s.

The older ones are rarely made of coromandel wood, as you can see in my Bali Art Deco thread:

Stephen, you are welcome to post your girl and boy in that thread, it is open for anyone with Bali Art Deco art, and these are beautiful, especially the boy.

    Thank you AJ.
Eboo almost convinced me they were reasonably modern tourist wear but my mind kept saying they were better than that. Glad to have it confirmed.
Will put them in your thread shortly.
    Cheers

When they have those sulking faces with broad noses, like the girl has, they are usually early. Not pouting, but sulking.;)
The wear on her eyebrows and nose is also an indication. She was slightly patinated when made, which has worn off over time.

The confusing thing is that coromandel was banned ca 1980. So it is safe to say that Balinese coromandel carvings are pre-1980. But the extensive use of coromandel started later on in the Bali Art Deco period.
