    Not much help here. This is the closest I could find to yours.

    By size, that is.

    The wood looks similar.

    Close but no cigar !

    It's a carving from Bali Indonesia using the same wood they use when faking Northwest Coast Indian masks.....

    It looked Phillippino to me; it's probably the same tree.

    Could be monkeypod wood-by far the most common wood for souvenirs from the Philippines.

    The first tree produces the most commonly used wood for carvings in Bali. It is known by the locals as the Albesia or "Belalu." (Albizia Falcata) It is a white, soft wood. There are numerous reasons why it is used so frequently.It is native to Indonesia. As such, it grows considerably well to a staggering 130 feet tall. Now that isn't anything too special. Some redwoods have been found that are 380 feet tall, but when you consider how fast the Albesia grows, it becomes quite evident why it is the favored species in plantations in Indonesia. It can grow 3o feet high in just 2 years. That is astronomical! It holds the official title as "the fastest growing tree in the world." Because it is such a fast grower, Indonesian farmers have been able to make a living off of this tree alone, planting them anywhere they can.

    I'll cede on the wood. It does look more like the monkey pod.

    But at least, guys, and lady, I gave a reference to size. Unlike a few others, so I'll claim the prize for that match. :meh: :smuggrin: :p

    Albesiа=monkeypod.
    The other common types are satin, waru and suar but I'll have to look around to tell the differences.
    The lilypad on mine is about 11" x 9".

    I'm with Aquitaine - I think it is a lovely piece.
    I may have to start collecting frogs again. :)
    Could we get a "heads up" when/if you list it?

    OH, Well. Just got rid of the company who interrupted my post over an hour ago.

    KOMO. Is that burnt engraving what the Indonesians use on imported pieces? And are all the masks fake"

    It's just one of the many ways their Indian carvings are being sold with what looks like an authentic mark ...,& yes both those masks that I show the front and back of are.. dead solid fakes !
