Case's Stainless, Short Marlinspike & Sheath: A Marriage?

The 'Spike is ~5 1/4", an I think Case made a longer one, 'cause I've got it; ~6" (not shown). The sheath seems well-enough made to be original, at least for the 'Spike...but I have doubts about the knife being original to the other two, partly because it isn't marked XX, as is the sheath...which has the initials of a prior owner.
One of the previous folks to have this knife undertook to add a lanyard hole...an' to an extent achieved that goal, but at the cost of sufficient heat being generated during the drilling to char both sides of the wooden grip in that vicinity. One would hope he learned about drilling stainless knife alloy, so as not to attempt it ever again.
The question is whether the knife belongs (from Case) to this sheath/'Spike combination. It may be that the lanyard could have allowed easier withdrawal from the sheath, as its full insertion there leaves very little to grip.

Don't have any experience with such things, but the knife seems a bit lost in that sheath.

There I was thinking it was an oyster knife !

 

One or two oysters may have owned one at some point in their lives...!!!

 

Obviously so...maybe the hole in mine was just enlarged?
Also, I note the belt loop seems to be longer, on that one.

and your sheath has 3 grommets ....maybe an earlier version...or later..?

 

Huh? Nope...that's the other one. Mine has 2, solo.
