Cast bronze piece (pendant? Indian? Hindu?) 2-sided, faces, HEAVY

Any observations about this handsome fellow? Here's all I know: my father brought it back in the 1950s from India. Ages later, I vaguely recall his saying that the worn area on the chin of one of the faces was due to repeated religious observances or manipulations. He seemed to think it was a pretty awesome piece. Ideas, y'all? Thanks!
