So I Recently bought a "farm bell" it's from the 1850s and I found out that it's from an old school house that was in Pennsylvania. I have sanded off the rust and I am doing to restore it with Rust-oleum Enmal spray paint. I have primered it with etching primer. So I put a coat of paint on thinly. Should I wait the 48 hours to put the second coat on or can I paint it again after it dried? I want it to last another 100 years.

Second I am mounting it to a 4x4 wooden post. What would be the best bolt to use?

    Thanks in advance!!

    Stainless steel - no rust.

For a 4x4 wood post how long should it be?

Measure the post and yolk together then add at least another inch for the threads to be sticking out beyond the post - you also will want to add a flat washer then the nut.

And as far as the drying time - follow directions on the cans - some paints need to air cure longer than others before spraying on second and finish coats

I don't know what "etching primer" is - is it a metal primer?

It bonds to the metal and you can sand it. It also makes the Enmal paint bond and stick better
