Cast pewter or iron Victorian and possibly ivory bookend help

    I am trying to decide to get these or not. I am not sure if it is ivory. Now have two someones gave me the match so now I have 2. Rare about 6" tall and priced at 7.00. Each.     Maybe they were lamps at some point? I like the look of them,but resale might be negligible.

    Thanks Johnnycb09 that what I need to hear if I can get them half price tomorrow I will if not life goes on 1926 right before the crash and the Great Depression interesting period

    MY question is WHY on Earth would someone have cut the rectangular holes in the back......they aren't even cuts, so they DO look like HAND cut...cuts!!!!!
