Ceramic figure of a beggar. Marked on base with an impressed number 1 over 409, and hand-written number 39.

    Size: 12 in.

Made in Italy, Germany, etc. ???

    Thank you!

From my experience impressed numbers are usually a German/Austrian or English thing. I haven't run across a lot of impressed numbers with on Italian stuff. ha so much for narrowing it down. Nicely done though. I like the bottle in his pocket.

    I agree most likely German/Austrian.
His beard is similar to texture on the miniature German flower baskets.

His hair and beard remind me of the vintage poodle figurines, not the spagetti but the close cropped stuff, very nice indeed. :)

Thanks guys! I'll look into German/Austrian and see what I can find.

    Thanks again!

The curly hair parts can most often be seen in German "Elfinware".

"Elfinware" that is what I couldn't remember. All I could think of was miniature baskets of flowers.
    Thank you
