Costumes are from Poland or somewhere nearby.

Have you tried putting eggs in them? What size?

Eggs appear to be too small. I would switch to investigating liquor use.

Try the smaller end. The larger could be to use when you open the egg, rather than eat out of the shell.

I have a small collection of egg cups.
I'm not seeing Poland in those costumes, though there's so many variations... possibly elsewhere in Eastern Europe? Try using the hat styles when searching folk costumes. Of course, it may simply be a generalized/stylized version of a folk costume.
The egg in the shell goes in the smaller end of the egg cup.
The larger end is for eating a shelled egg. It can then be mixed with yummy add-ins.

    EDIT: Sniped by judy! :)

There are a few more of these on worthpoint, and a set of measuring cups with wooden handles, all unmarked. I guess these might be double, but the dancers are one-way. My guess is Japan.

I suppose you can put what you want in them, but I also have a dozen in my Blue Willow old good dishes, and they've always been egg cups!!

I don't like eggs, but people do eat soft-boiled with runny yolks and toast points in the big egg cups.
