    Hi,
I have these really cool chairs. The fun thing is I had a medium come to my house for dinner and stated there is a "spirit" attached to the chairs. Well I am not so sure about that but I am really curious about them. The stamp underneath states chair number 1886 Orleans white. There is at least 2 coats of paint!!

The leg style makes me think 1940s early 1950s. Post WWII
I think it's part of a dining room set.

Interesting back - looks like a silhouette of two heads facing different directions.

As for the psychic - all past furniture has a tale to tell if materials could speak.

They look 1900ish tudor revival. Im wondering if someone "fixed" the original back splat ? How many of these do you have ? I think they are awesome, very quirky ! :)
Ps... I TOTALLY believe furniture can be haunted ! :)

How about the Orleans at the bottom. Does that mean anything to anyone??

Orleans white would be the original finish. You might try searching that term to see if you can link it to a maker.

Just to clarify, and I'm pretty art-ignorant, the cup signatures were made by others, not by Picasso himself, correct? He certainly authorized many of the ceramic repros but others manufactured and signed them, true or not?

Is there a central Picasso authentication group you can submit things to as there is for certain other famous artists?

all signature are his he authorised copies of his signature only altho he didn't take a close look at the ceramics he would just sign them when brought to him
yes there's the Picasso administration of his kids Claude and his sister they are the leading and only really recognised authorities , they say they get 700 or more submissions a year but they won't say how many are real and how many are fake or repro's and it takes a long time

there is a fellow reproducing his works on chairs (badly) but he doesn't sign them because that would be forgery and the fellow who did is out of jail now lol and won't do it again ,my chair was done before them as i said the chairs manufacturer went out of biz in the 50's and I can clearly see the painting has been on the chair that long or longer
