Featured Cheap Art Good !

Was wondering thru some very boring sales this weekend and spied this interesting Calder-esque (sp?) sculpture. Well, I turned it over,looked at the price tag and thought-shall it be a dozen eggs or this ?
It's 14 inches high and by John Paul Phillippe,you can just see the blind stamp on the wood base.

Looks good on the MCM mantel (though it'd look better w/a wire brushing and a touch of rust-little more of steely look).

I was chuffed to actually find a listed artist cheap and it works in our eclectic electric houzz.

Thanks all,weird to find anything with a provenance to it ! Seems like a lot of the really lovely representational stuff I see on Ebay is 'Artist/Sig-Unknown', it's well done work,but w/o the darn imprimatur- zero/zilch/zorch.

Thanks Cookie-Wonder if he made the circular motif/stamp by pressing the base of a house paint bucket into the thick wet surface ? The splatter school painters used gallon buckets of house paint.
