Another brooch out of the scrap bucket for my education!. Yes I know it's very sad but what age do you think it is?. It's marked China as you can see. Just over 2ins long.
I can restore or scrap it and keep the pink beads?
    Thankyou :)

Art Deco silver plated Chinese filigree, coral, and faux pearl brooch. 1920s.
Lost most of its plating, nevertheless, please restore.:)

Ok, I'll do my best!. I'll do some research into how to clean it. I can very easily clean it down to its base metal which looks like copper or brass but I'm not sure how to restore the silver plate?. Replacing the little pearls should be doable too although they are stitched in somehow so I'll have to pay attention when I take it apart.
I thought it may be coral but when I put my neck on the line I'm often wrong!.

You don't need to plate it, it looks fine the way it is, and people expect these Chinese Art Deco plated pieces to have wear.
I would just restore the pin, but I am lazy that way.

But if you really want to, there is a silver plating solution which is a bit like silver polish. You have to apply and rub it multiple times before you see a result on brass. The friction of the rubbing causes the silver to bond with the brass.

I'd not plate it, just clean with a Sunshine. Are any pearls acually missing?

Not missing but very badly worn and missing most of their coating.

Well they weren't until I gave it a polish and broke the string!.
Definitely have to replace them now :banghead:

That would probably have happened at some stage anyway, that old string gets brittle.
Some European jewellery makers also used string to fasten rows of beads to brooches and pendants. I am currently in the process of repairing an old French champlevé brooch with a coral bead surround. @kyratango , the brooch goes with those champlevé and coral earrings I got for a song.
