Chinese Carved ? Stone? Cong Shape Brush Pot

    It looks like some type of soapstone. Can scratch it with finger nail. But there are some pinholes like those seen on molded synthetic resin pieces. So not sure.
    I guess the metal lining and the crude details would make it more recent?

    With the bubbles in the bottom and bottom surface looking as it does I would have to lean toward resin.

    If you can easily scratch it, it is more likely Hydrocal or other plaster-like substance. Definitely something cast. You can see how it was cast around the liner.
