I have 5 vases I was given by a friend of mine about 15 years ago. They are all about 3.5 inches tall and in very in shape and color. They look very old.

No maker marks, or other distinguishing marks.

    What do you think?

Cloisonne-decorative work in which enamel, glass, or gemstones are separated by strips of flattened wire placed edgeways on a metal backing.

Chinese origin. They look not to be antique and possibly machine made post 1950. How they are finished on the bottom helps pinpoint date of production. Someone should come along who know more or with corrections

There are no markings on the bottom. They have enamel on the underside.

I'll take some more photos later.

I have an identical twin to one of the blue ones. My dad bought it for me back in the 80s some time. That's about right for the age on most of these, is my guess.

My friend had been a military officer in China and had went to the Swiss Military college for his masters. He said he was about 8th in place at the time for the Chinese monarchy if it would have been restored. I never really believed any of his stories, but for someone who was 24 and owned a new Aston Martin and Patek Phillipe maybe?

He came in the US Navy to learn about it (scary huh?), and ended up writing a textbook for the Chinese military about the US Navy.

Our intelligence officer was scared to death of him. I never understood why they didn't kick him out. But he worked, they ended up moving him to a job that he couldn't hurt anything. This was 2000-2003 time frame.

I have seen his class year books from both Swiss and Chinese military schools. He was someone of money.

Doesn't mean the pots are anything of value.

I agree with Pier One genre. In any case the vases are decorative, worth a few bucks apiece, no collector value.
