Hello. We have a dressing screen, originally purchased for $8000. It is in excellent condition -- solid wood, six panels, hand carved. Asking $4000 or best offer.

That looks modern to me, late 20th C. I know you do not claim it is antique, but the depreciation on what looks to be a decorator item is usually even fiercer than you seem to expect.

LARGE 6 PANEL CHINOISERIE CHINESE DRESSING SCREEN
    Price: $995.00

*** ; ; This is a fantastic black lacquer Chinese chinoiserie carved coromandel lacquer 6 panel screen. Look at the gorgeous design and scenery. Notice the size and scale of the screen and look at the gorgeous coloration and precise design and execution of carving. The screen is in excellent condition and dates to the 1940s or 50s. We are trained to notice each of these small and important details and hope that you will see the difference when comparing our items to similar items also available elsewhere. The details often separate the common from the distinctive and sublime. This screen, if you could even find one similar to it, would sell in a metropolitan antique store of distinction for approximately 4500.00. MEASURES (72W x 96W M3529) - Status: For Sale Reference#: _80220683814 Year: UNKNOWN Country: US

I don't know if half of this is true....but there's lots out there........:wideyed:

The key element here is the auteur creator. This is a designer art piece.

    Oh, well then that's different.

Maybe it would have been a good idea to put that in your description.....along with the size, the age, where it was made, where it's now located, and any other information that a potential buyer might find relevant .

    Just sayin.....
