    Hi,
I have this carving (7 1/2"H), I believe this is considered Republic Period, but what time during the Republic Period? Would this be boxwood?
    Any information appreciated
    thanks for looking
edit: I think this is Cultural Revolution rather than Republic Period

    She is beautiful, cx.
    The Republic Period is 1912-1949.

Thank-you AJ, I think she is too!
Maybe this would be considered Cultural Revolution time period?

The Cultural Revolution is 1966-76, she looks a bit older to me, but this is not a subject I know much about.
Her attitude is very determined, and it looks like she has her flask and a basket ready to be taken to field labourers, a great look for the Cultural Revolution period.
But she is not wearing a 'Mao suit', which incidentally was introduced before Mao by Sun Yat-Sen during the Republic period. Her clothing style dates from an earlier period, so she is probably not a 'workers symbol'.
Whatever she is, she is beautiful, I love her.
