Featured Chinese gold & black wood flexible bowls

Just wondering if I should pay these any attention or if they are junk?
Pretty poor shape unfortunately.
2 bowls with similar but not identical patterns, each drawing is slightly different, one has a Foo ? dog and the other doesn’t .
Both 13cm across.
The material is very thin, lightweight and flexible and appears to be made internally of thin strips of wood with glue, a black coating and then a gold overlay.
Is there a name for this technique for me to search?
Google gives me a million unrelated hits.
Modern worn out tat or vintage/antique?
Any help welcome please as I’m clueless about these.

I was just looking at the person in the second picture - who doesn't really look Chinese to me, - a guess.

 

I see what you mean. I just saw the dog and jumped to a conclusion.
