not jade, some other stone. Characters look etched with acid.

Jade is resistant to most acids, hydrofluoric acid can etch the surface but it is not something a normal/intelligent person would use.

    What are etching marks?
I made etched jewellery for about 6 or 7 years back in the 70's - not stone, but silver, brass and copper.
The carving of the characters have that look, maybe not, but look like it.

BTW HydroCHLORIC acid will etch some stones. Don't need to use HydroFLOURIC

[IMG] Here is some real jade for comparison.
    Is yours maybe "camo-jade?"

    Or maybe, Coprolite?
    [IMG] Just guessing

Then, are we talking jadeite or nephrite?

This one is in a way resistant to steel blade but the surface condition is not very suitable to perform tests. It’s possible some kind of treatment was done to the stone, whatever its origin is... It was very dirty but I suspect the brown is a dye or so.

I think it could be bowenite. Bowenite is a type of serpentine, and it can look blotchy like this.
