    Hi all joolies;)
I bought this huge (3.1/4") critter in a lot of costume jewelry.
The metal is very thin, rather hard and has a rhodium shine...
The eyes are tiny diamonds, the jadeite wings are rather opaque but of good color (little windows at back of the brooch to allow a light to come through and examine the stone!)
The mark on last pic is beyond my knowledge :shy:
I'm very curious to know if it is a hallmark or the maker's mark, so, any help welcome :joyful:

    It is gorgeous.
I don't know the marks, but the brooch looks 1980s or more recent, so it will be difficult to find them. The K doesn't look Chinese, the rest does.
I haven't seen khl for some time, maybe on holidays?

My apologies for dissecting such a lovely creature, but I just had to see the design on the jade. Two coins and ruyi mushrooms, by the look of it.

Right, A J, not an oldie, but a handmade biggie :joyful:

You're right again for the coins and lingzhi mushrooms! Auspicious at its best;)
That's why I love Chinese jewelry and all its symbolism.

    Thanks for the dissection!:hilarious:

Of course, lingzhi:banghead:. Ruyi is the scepter with lingzhi top.

Has it been tested for platinum? The sloppy construction and blobs of solder usually aren't on platinum jewelry.

No, not tested, the jewellers in my area don't test platinum, nor silver...only gold :bored:
I agree for the sloppy construction and solder... for sure, it isn't the best made, but for a "costume piece" I'm pleased with my find

Hollyblue, only testing will say for sure, I know Chinese marks can be cheating...

For the jadeite, I'm sure! I had to remove one which was lifted on the body, only forgot to take pics of the particularities of the stone :bucktooth:, and prefer not to remove it again and risk to damage the prongs or stone!

What appear as malachite lines are actual streaks of darker and more translucent green. I do agree too it isn't the best jadeite quality, but I can't see evidence of dying in the natural cracks.;)
