Featured Chinese or Japanese ROOSTER Covered Jar

    Another piece of pottery chucked in a box lot of random stuff at a local auction. I really liked the quality of the art work. I don't think it's very old. Of course, there's a 50% chance the marks are upside down! Measures 3.5 inches tall. Any help is appreciated!

    Actually 100% upside down. ;)

    By the by - most likely Japanese Kutani, IMHO

    Agreed. Some of the marks I've seen on gotheborg resembled Kutani but I couldn't get an exact or close match.

    The two characters on the left (when rotated) say Kutani, can't make out the other two, too scrawled.

    re Lark-Roosters are a big collectible.I used to know a guy who owned a couple wineries,his million dollar kitchens were full of roosters (high quality ones of course).
