Chinese pendant?

    Hi all — A friend traveled to China in late 80s and brought this back...

    The stone disk is either cornaline either russet jade:cyclops:

    It's gold-plated silver of some fineness; the bail says "silver". I've found Chinese gold marks there before so it pays to look.

    Is this a tourist trinket?
    The person who gave it to me said that it was an antique....but he was prone to hyperbole ;)

    Might be by now, but it's not even close to new. I'd be thinking more 1950s than 1850s but ... dunno.

    I’ve found a few bits of jade with gold marks inside the bail that the seller had missed.

    I am guessing that my rural PA auctioneer may not be the best person to work with on valuing this little thing...

    If you were me, Wwyd?
    My backup option is to take it to a larger auction house In Philadelphia for consignment — worth it for them/me?
