Chinese Scorpion Pendant Lucite?

Good morning all, I hope the new year has been kind to you so far. I hope you can help with this pendant that contains a scorpion under an amber color bubble. It is warm to the touch but I don't see any inclusions that indicate it is amber. According to google translate, the Chinese characters on the back mean "pure Chinese silver". How old do you think it is and would the top be made of Lucite? It is 2" long and 1 3/8" wide. thanks for looking and any information you can provide.

    These are recently made.
Some are real amber which they melt and put a (often live) scorpion in. These are considered fakes, because in ancient times small scorpions occasionally got trapped in tree sap which fossilised into amber. They fake that rare natural process and sell it as real.
The silver is probably not silver, or possibly plated.

I was pretty sure it isn't real silver, I was just noting what google said about the characters. I got in a bunch of vintage jewelry so I didn't think it was very recent. So, is the top some kind of plastic? How can I tell?

Shine a UV-light on it, and see if it fluoresces.

It fluoresces green, like some amber does. So I would say molten amber with scorpion put in. I hope it was dead, but....:(

I hope it was dead too! Thank you for your help, it is very much appreciated. I inherited a huge amount of jewelry from my sister who just passed away a month ago. She and her husband traveled out west a great deal in the 1980's and I suspect this may have been from one of their trips. It looks like something my brother in law (he passed in 2022) would have purchased.

I am very sorry for your loss, Lizzie.
It was probably a more recent purchase.

Thank you AJ. It could have been more recent, I will have to determine when they made their last trip.
