In the for what it's worth category, why would a Korean official give an American official anything other than a Korean made gift? Especially a Chinese made gift?

There may have just been a lot of these made to give to participants and whomever did the ordering had a source. It doesn't say where the event took place.

    Thanks for the Thad.
If not wrong Korea, Japan, China, Vietnam and other countries shared a market back in the day. The decoration and the mark are common for all of the above countries so hard to tell just by those characteristics.
It make sense if the attache was Korean to present a Korean made gift.
Found another piece marked with Gen. Ahn Kwang Ho but no dedication. Maybe he was a collector? The vase is described as Japanese but not sure if that is correct:

Apparently these types of gifts have no value above melt

Unless you get it to someone for whom there's a connection, probably not.

The cup and saucer I have listed, that was a general's gift to an army surgeon, was sold by his heirs for $2. His offspring had zero interest.

(sigh) We just cleaned out the front closet at the house. Mom gave away her wedding dress. To be fair it was stained and partially taken apart, but.... I made my sister hang onto Grandma's 1921 veil.
