    Hello,

Over the years I've picked up a variety of objects from different regions.

Here is a small vase I purchased in China (Chengdu, I think). About 3.5 inches in height. I don't see any stamped markings.

Could anyone share information about the type? Is it recently made, or perhaps older?

    When did you get it?
I don't think it's contemporary or even recent.

I purchased it about 8 or 9 years ago. As I recall, it was purchased at a market in Chengdu, but could have been in Beijing.

I reckon old and that it was made to hold something to be sold. Either food or cosmetic.

Thanks to those who have provided opinions.

For those who suggest it is old, is there a basis for estimating how old it might be? Any estimates?

Gee, I like this little jar! I admittedly and literally know very little about Chinese pottery and porcelain, but I do like to make WAGs. :D. It has a sophisticated folk vibe, if I can express it that way. There is underglaze blue decoration which is nice, but the colours aren't added very carefully. The base is not potted very well. So there is evidence that it is likely a utilitarian or souvenir type piece. Age? Not a clue as I have a feeling it could be anywhere from late 19th c to the last 20 years, LOL. However, I think this has some age -- 1920ish give or take 20 years.
