Featured Chinese Vase with hidden markings - only visible with torchlight

    Hi all,

    these vase has been a puzzle to me but I'm pretty sure there is a rationale behind it.. probably the way it is layered. Not too sure if it is authentic and I am unable to read the Chinese Characters.


    Base: 7 cm
    Broader Width: 10cm
    Height: 18cm

    Any help would be much appreciated

    Interesting! I've never seen this effect on such a large scale! Like "Japanese geisha lithophanes" on the bottom of tea cups. You see the lady only when tipping the last of your tea into your mouth.

    Maybe it was meant to be the bottom of a lamp? One of the ones with a night light in the base? Pretty sweet piece.

    Thank you all, will look into it! Apparently there is no marking on the base so that am not sure on it whereabouts.
