Chinese water colour on fabric

Bought this today. Not sure why because I think it's awful. The colours don't appeal, the subject matter is lumpy and it's all off centre and out of balance. Maybe I thought it might be worth something. A friend of my dad and a fellow picker always tells me, if you're going to buy something to sell on, make sure you like it, cos if it doesn't sell, you're going to be looking at it for a long time!

Main panel is 28cm x 24cm.

I do find is quite boring and unappealing (sorry) But I also don’t know much about art

 

i think you need to take in other considerations as well with something like this

think it might have a bit of age as well by the style of the painting

For one thing... The perspective is incorrect which makes it unsettling to look at.

That, and that it is also squashed into one corner. I thought maybe it was part of a larger piece cut down to size. It might explain why it is not central and lack of signature

a lot of that is camera distortion though right, too close, something i always blimin do as well

 

try and get a shot where the borders look parallel to the camera viewing screen

 

The placement in the corner is not a design flaw; it's an artistic choice.

It looks like the black outlines were done first, and whoever painted it in had colors that were too opaque for the job, and they didn't shade it. The flowers look flat. The actual design is Chinese and made for the Chinese market.
