This is not an antique, but what forum is best? I dunno.

This is about 10" tall, of one consistent piece of pretty heavy / dense wood, and imo pretty well executed.

Who is it? Is that a dog with rabbit ears? Grain (?) and ??? in their hands?

    Thank you!

    Japanese Ainu piece perhaps ?
''For the Ainu( Hokkaido, North Japan), the Wolf was an important god, Horkew Kamuy, the "Howling God"/ "White Wolf God" /"Lord Wolf God" -more or less equal to the Japanese word kami-'god', 'divine spirit', etc.
There are myths of a white wolf that mated with a goddess, and the offspring from this union became the ancestors of the Ainu people( comparable to North American native and Mongolian creation myths)."
    PS-Beautiful piece !
PSS-Foxes are also big in Japanese Mythos.,OR it could be Wiley Coyote.

I've had an Ainu bear carving before and I guess the wood does indeed look similar... Thanks for the lead @bosko69!

@wlwhittier I didn't notice that the first time I looked at that drawing this morning.
In my defense, it is a harvest theme, with the god/goddess carrying a sheaf of grain, so I thought turnip was logical, lol.

The longer they stay inna ground, the better I like 'em...ideally long enough to return to the soil all the nutrients wasted in their sprouting an' growth to maturity (I can't imagine they ever ripen, in the classical sense of that word)!
Parsnips, on the other hand...well, that's a long & delicious story...I won't bore you with all the buttery details.
An' then there's Rutabagas...I'll leave it to others to tidy up this discussion with common curses (or rarer praises) for this first cousin to the dread Turnip! Thanks for listening!
