I have an opportunity to purchase this for a reasonable price and was wondering if it was a wise move for resale purposes? I've done some research and found a couple in museums online. Wasn't able to find a year or model on the product. It is in very good shape, but the keys look like they could use some help. I have no idea what the potential value might be or any knowledge at all about organs. Any input would be appreciated. Thank you
then how the hell do you know it's a reasonable price ? & how do you know it's in very good shape ? there's no action on the keys....and no telling what other issues it has inside and no clue what it would cost to fix it ....! The only wise move would be to stay away from it ! IMHO..
Thank you for blunt reply. I was hoping for a worst case scenario of cost and sharing what i thought to be a nice unique piece. Maybe a more helpful reply is forthcoming. I'm aware on how not to make unwise purchases, and this is more than likely one of them. Hoping to get some knowledge but I apparently pissed in your cornflakes. Have a pleasant evening and thanks for your honest opinion
Over in the UK you can`t give these away. Organs, pianos, they are big and heavy and expensive to move. My local auction house refuse to take them as do charity shops.
Hi, Here also. The last sale I was at there was one for FREE. No takers or even lookers. Excellent shape and was just tuned two months before the sale. I believe it got tossed into the trash. greg
Hi...nice wood and if you like it as a piece of furniture and you would enjoy it you could probably purchase for a very, very low price. I have seen some made into desks!
When looking at the keys, my first question was going to be "Have you looked under the hood?" That COULD be an expensive nightmare to fix!!! Have you had a professional look at it?? On the outside, from what we see, the 'finish' does look to be in very nice condition though.........I rather liked what 'bobsyouruncle' had to say!!!!!
Thx all! I've walked past these countless times and never would have given it a second thought usually. Something about the wood drew me to it. Saw the tag and maker, did a general search, and thought maybe the age could make it desirable. May buy it and convert it into some bar top or something. Happy weekend!
How could I have been more helpful, with so many unknowns ...& your stated Question...." ..if it was a wise move for resale purposes?"... & your comment ..... " I have no idea what the potential value might be or any knowledge at all about organs"........ So yes....being blunt was required to stop you in your tracks from making an UNWISE purchase ..& to call your attention to the many pitfalls & pratfalls of such a move.... You piss in my cornflakes....& you'll hear about it in no uncertain terms.... but here....this is not the case ! Your hard earned money would be better spent elsewhere ........
I don't know, do you work on organs? Are you an organ historian? Trust me I know how worthless these pieces are usually. I've also learned at a young age how not to touch a hot stove after the first time as well. You have added nothing for my knowledge on how not to make unwise purchases, but thanks for tying. I'm just glad you weren't around to teach my kid how to throw a football LOL. This arm wrestling match is over. Have a wonderful day
I'm sorry if I've upset you in some terrible manner....I don't always realize how sensitive some folks are . Just one quick point I'd like to make..... even with the ' LOL '....I find your comment... " I'm just glad you weren't around to teach my kid how to throw a football LOL." , unsavory & uncalled for, but I will not respond in kind !
Oh, we kick our footballs, too. And our kickers are pretty hot. . Adam Vinatieri for your enjoyment, ladies.
Sorry to hijack your post, Rberr. I can tell you that here in Massachusetts you'd be lucky to find someone to take it away for $25. Our local Historical Society has a very nice organ that we don't have room for since we remodeled the stage. We can make money having piano concerts with our donated grand piano, but the organ is a liability. We tried selling it a couple of years ago with no luck. If you want this for your own personal use, then the price is whatever you want to pay. If you think you can resell it, you need to do some market research first to see if anyone is interested.
If he is just a kicker why does he have to wear a helmet and padding and have someone else hold his projectile that resembles something like a half size rugby ball ? He looks a bonny boy with his waxed chest.
