    dear all

    Photo: Raffles Monument, Singapore.
    Westminster Tobacco Co Ltd.
cannot find the year when this card was issued.

    other cards include:
    1) BAT Film and Stage Favourites No 31 Elsa Macfarlane 1926 (only one card)
    2) The Pageant of Kingship No 88 Opening of Australian Parliament 1937 (only one card)
    3) BAT Modern Beauties 1938 (incomplete set, 29/50)
    4) Phillips Beauties of Today 1938 (incomplete set, 27/32)
these are not worth anything unless they are a complete set, right?

    regards

Yes they have value by themselves. I'd say about 1-3 bucks a piece

The first one is from the mid 20s (US $2). Haven't found the exact card, but there were different series between 1925 and 1929
    1. BAT Film and Stage Favourites No 31 Elsa Macfarlane 1926 (US $2-3)
    2. The Pageant of Kingship No 88 Opening of Australian Parliament 1937 (US $1)
    3. BAT Modern Beauties 1938 (incomplete set, 29/50) (US $1-2)
    4. Phillips Beauties of Today 1938 (incomplete set, 27/32) (US $2)

Cigarette Card collecting and dealing reached its height in the late 80`s early 90`s then the scammers took over, colour photocoping and reprinting the expensive types ruined the hobby.
It seems to have gone the same way as stamp collecting.
I know a dealer who had to take a UV light and other material to trade fairs to detect the glue where two copied sides had been attached to deceive buyers.

However, keep a look out for individual cards from a company called Taddy & Co, the theme Clowns and Circus Artistes, only 20 sets were produced, the backs are blank, they command over £1000 each. (But there are copies)
