? Civil war era knife

    My knife gave me this many years ago. I think it has the correct age for civil war but may have been ruined but someone putting CSA in car-touche at end of hilt. Your opinions are appreciated. thank you

    looks like a classic boot dagger, & at 1st glance I'd say gold rush era.....but it does need more research...

    I don't think CSA rings true......but again just quick 1st impressions late fri night.!

    The 19th century Sheffield at the left ....is of a similar style...the 3rd from the right....also....but larger than yours......I think....seeing as how you haven't provided any dimensions...;);).....:(

    Need much better photos for an ID job like this IMO. After that someone with some experience could probably guess whether home-made or commercial. If latter, then age could be guessed. If former, it would be very hard to date it accurately. These hard jobs become impossible lacking sharp, well-lighted photos.
