Civil War era scalpel

    A RN friend of mine told me he thought this would be about Civil War era. But that is all I really know, anyone here have any ideas.

    Looks more like a sculpting tool for clay/wax/whatever to me. Whats the first word in the marking say? ****** Paris.

    I agree with Kronos. A scapel would have had a straight end not what looks like a curved tip. If it is some type of surgical instrument it would be some type of retractor. They are used to hold back "stuff" in order to get at the "parts" you want to get at & come in multiple shapes/sizes.

    I read "NIGOUL", but what Google hands me appears to be people with the surname Nigoul living in Paris. :hilarious:

    Someone who doesn't have to run everything through google translate might have better luck. :bucktooth: ;):joyful:

    It's hard to tell in the pic but the blade is straight, the other end is curved.
