    Greetings,

I acquired this necklace from an online auction and am curious what you make of the pendant. It doesn’t strike me as MOP despite having the reflective qualities we associate it with. No multi-hued rainbow effect. It simply casts a creamy white light and I wonder if it could be selenite? Can anyone else crack a guess to what it could be? Any details are appreciated. 8FD6B4EC-AB91-46C5-B874-43943534D775.jpeg ABEE7179-A7D1-43F6-B3B7-75ED1E1DA319.jpeg C90C0A6E-32CB-4FC6-9DE6-EB4CA90AED35.jpeg 91D9FAA8-E657-41DA-A1C7-C91001E0A6ED.jpeg 444873A7-36AF-4CB9-8D5B-33313001F864.jpeg

It could be. Selenite is slightly colder than mop.
It is gorgeous! The mount reminds me of my faux tiger tooth brooch, which is late 19th century.

I've seem similar pendants described as being watch fobs. This one is shaped, in my mind, like a powder horn rather than a tooth or claw. If you Google "MOP Powder Horn Watch Fob" you'll see similar ones.

The tooth and setting appear to be Victorian.
The clasp has been added later. Victorians didn't do 1/20 12kgf, they did rolled gold.

And looking again, I think rolled gold is what you have.

    Nice!
I have no doubt this tooth is white mother of pearl :cyclops:
You can do the same tooth test than for pearls, it will give the same gritty feeling:p

Maybe this did start as a watch fob and later was repurposed as a necklace. The bit of chain on the pendant does not match the chain on the necklace. 334F1361-B786-46DF-9169-E1355010F9C3.jpeg

I go for selenite; rolled gold; Victorian with connector added much later.
