Featured Cloisonne trinket or snuff box? Help with age and country of origin

    This is my first post so bear with me. I lean toward Chinese because of the blue inside and bottom. The pistil is raised and the butterfly is raised a little higher than the pistil. It looks a little art deco to me but maybe wishful thinking. 2 1/2" x1"

    I agree, looks newer. but I'd research anyway if it was made for the French market with that Napleonic bee or wasp or whatever. the navette form was indeed art deco.

    It is a cutie, and I agree, more recent than Art Deco. Maybe 1960s.
    It is unusual though, both the shape and the decoration. The shape looks like a bit like a leaf to me, not navette shaped.

    I have reason to believe kyra is indeed not Chinese, just like she says.:pompous:
    (As for loving bugs....)

    the navette shape is ideal for a stylized cornkob which is often found in village and city crests in France.
