I hope someone can help. I volunteer in a museum doing some conservation. Today this was brought to me and there is no paperwork with it. No one here seems to have a clue at to what it is. The blades were once sharp. There is no manufacturer stamping.
I don't know what it is, but it looks like it's meant to be jammed under something that has been glued, or otherwise fastened down, and then pried up. Tile maybe? Or carpet?
I saw it as an ice chipper, but want to double check. https://m.ebay.com/itm/Rare-Primiti...-1884-/232511430126?_ul=BY&_mwBanner=1&_rdt=1
Is there a patent #, like the one above? This one reads “American Machine Co. Philadelphia. Ok, now I believe them. http://www.icetoolcollection.com/14patentedtools1850thru1904.htm Welcome to the Forum! And thank you for your volunteer work!
At first glance I didn't see any markings, but the scraper is heavily rusted so who knows what lies under the rust.
