Makanudo There is no such thing as simple.Simple is hard.

I have just got this bowl set, that feel almost like crystal, but I am not sure if it has some age in it and what exact type it is.
    Thanks

Nice harlequin set. It looks like the color may be a stain rather thanan applied open lace edge.

You don't mention sizes, but my guess would be a set of berry bowls.

    It is definately stained glass.
Diameter of the large bowl is 10 inches and small bowls are 5.5inches.
Bowls are rather heavy and I agree beautifull colours.
    Thanks

That looks moulded rather than cut. I'd think 1940s onwards, possibly French. Nice.

I think of stained glass as church windows - pieces of colored glass with lead strips in between. Do you mean it's not glass that's colored in the manufacture, but glass that has been colored on the surface?

That's exactly it. It can be flashed or stained. Flashed is more durable, generally.

Flashed is a thin layer of colored glass.

Stained is a thin layer of fired on color. I'm not sure if it's paint, enamel or some chemical compound that makes the color.
Someone else will know for sure.

This is in the context of tableware, etc. Not stained glass windows.

Yup. That's why flashed is more durable. Stained can be of assorted chemical forms.

I, too, would call it a "berry set"....(as least that is what most people call them when seen in cut glass...though the server bowl is sometimes 8"D). Of course..so many people use them for salad....

Mak, is that a maker's mark on the bottom? Or tool marks? Mold mark?

@everyone, What are good keywords for that edge treatment on these bowls? Loop, lacy, figure-eight?

Only the large bowl has polished pontil mark on the bottom.
