Howdy everybody - grabbed up this bowl tonight - It's 11" across. 3 1/2" tall. It's white glass cased in vaseline glass - has a ground/polished pointil. Any ideas on origin/ age? I love it! Thanks again!

To me it looks like a custard glass with a clear overlay. Custard glass is UV reactive but it is not vaseline glass. No idea who made it.

Thanks George - I still have a lot to learn glass-wise - appreciate the clarification.

I don't know, on the foot it really looks like the outside has greenish, clear overlay?

That's what I see as well - easier to see in person - here are a couple more pics that show the outer layer is green, inner layer is white ( at least to my eyes - which aren't as good as they used to be!). The yellow/greenish layer is very thin around the body of the bowl, thicker around the foot.

I saw your bowl this morning and thought, WOW! I have a piece like this. Mine is older but it is white with an interesting use of a vaseline green (uranium glass) layer inside it. I've never been able to get it ID'd. But whoever made it was skilled in the used of thicker to then very thin layers of the uranium green so that you only saw white. On your piece, my best guess is Italian, Murano.

Here's mine. All of the top green part fluoresces under UV as well as the white part which I suspect is the green glass inner layer showing through when I light it up. You can see the internal green glass in the pontil.

I just LOVE your bowl! Very nice.
