My guess is from the 50's?

Got this little baby at an auction. She's for sale at the right price otherwise I think she's going to be our future games table when we set our basement up.

Check her out! The sides come up and lock in. a melamine table.JPG

I've always called these Formica tables.
Not sure Melamine was used for tables, but I could be wrong.

YES! thank you! That was the word I was looking for. My husband called it melamine and I was like hmmm... no.. it's called something else. But I couldn't think of it and gave up trying. Armed with that handy word, I've now been able to google some tables that look like this one. Nice!

Annpan Love all, trust a few, do wrong to none.

If you crumple up some kitchen silver foil and rub the legs they will clean up.

    Hi,
Formica is a brand name of melamine. Most people think of dishware as melamine. Your table look late 50s early 60s. Especially with those legs.

I usually think of melamine furniture as having a thinner coating than the laminates such as Formica or Micarta. It is also usually later than the time period we are talking about for this table. However, in searching just now, I find that it is indeed the basic component used in the manufacture of Formica.

Thanks guys! And thanks muchly for the tip about the tinfoil. Cleaning it up is my task for next week though she's in fairly good shape in my opinion.

I think I'll put her up for $100 bucks and if no takers, we got ourselves a sweet new games table!

$100 in Northern CA would be a steal.
    Where are you?

I would agree with formica. I think of melamine as tissue thin over chipboard and cheap.
