Any idea how was the piece produced? The back is soft gray metal, I guess lead? And then you have the copper sheet laid over.

 

It's meant to look as though the copper is repoussé, but have to guess the base metal back part is molded to have the scene in relief & is then covered in copper. Doubt it would be solid lead.

 

What size is the piece and thickness of the copper?Just an educated guess .... the copper is more than 1mm thick,the copper was die stamped and then the back filled with melted lead.

 

About 6 1/4” in diameter, thickness on the edges 1/8”.
The copper is bit more than 1/32” thick. I think it would make more sense what Hollyblue suggested.
