It is a very nice antique pot, Kristin, but I see no reason to believe it is a 17th century Flemish wine cooler. As far as I know, wine wasn't cooled in 17th century Flanders. And, from a practical viewpoint, I don't think this would work as a wine cooler.
Wine was mixed with honey, herbs and spices, and often warmed rather than the opposite.

The style of your lovely copper pot looks Middle Eastern to me, with Persian influence. My guesstimate is 19th century.

    Thanks :)
I maybe translate wine chiller wrong. In swedish we call it ”kylfat”.
I have show the ”kylfat” to two big auctionshouses here in Sweden and they say its from Flandern and its from 1600s and it’s a lot of collectors of so old cooper. They want to sell it for 800$
I want to find similiar object to compare.
(Sorry for my English) hope you understand

Your English is fine, Kristin. I am Dutch, btw, so my English isn't perfect either. I am ca 20k from the border with Flanders, we were once one country, so we have a lot of Flemish art here. Nothing like this though.
But if they want to sell it for $800, go for it.:)

Google says that kylfat = cooler in English so a chiller is the equivalent. I am with AJ in the opinion that this is Middle Eastern in origin and no where near 17th century. It does bear some resemblance to early wine coolers but the form and decoration doesn't look quite right. If it were mine and someone wanted to sell it for $800.00, I would let them.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

I hope that you can sell this for the auction house estimate, Kristinpersson! It is interesting, whatever its purpose is.

Thanks for answer. So there is no one who have seen a “chiller” in this “design”? If you have, please send me pics :)
