Copper Mugs from Gold Country CA, any ideas on ID and age?

    Good Sunday everyone! These are not in my possession, but I've been told they were found in Calaveras County, California in the 1970s. (Calaveras is in Nor Cal and is a Gold Rush county.)

    They are made of copper. Obviously hand crafted. The inside of one of the handles appears to have animals stamped in it.

    Does anyone have any ideas on these? Could they date to the 49ers? Just for drinking or another purpose? What could the animals mean? Thanks in advance for your expertise and opinions! :)

    I cant really see the animals your talking about ? BUT,going off that idea they MIGHT be English ?

    I agree that it is hard to see the animals, but I'm taking their word for it. They do have an English tankard style...

    It looks like a very poorly cast piece and the bits and blobs look like Rorschach tests.
