Let me start by saying that I KNOW that this isn't an antique. I bought it new, and it's clearly dated 1992, so there isn't even a hint of real age to it. I'm just hoping that one of the "metal gurus" can give me a little insight.

What I would like to know is what the material is (it's metal, not magnetic - is it really copper?) and how it was "colored" the way it is. I DID know, back in the day, and something tells me that heat was involved, but honestly, I'm drawing a complete blank.

I bought two different "sculptures" from the artist (this penguin and a cat, which I gifted to friend who admired it in the late 1990's...) I bought them in the early 1990's, somewhere in the Washington, DC area, but I really don't remember where.

    Any insight, anyone?

    Thanks VERY much!

Thanks, Holly. I seemed to recall something about heat!
