two little charity shop finds of the day

i was hoping the ring was deco, but think more deco style

i thought the brooch looked modern but the clasp looks quite old

any thoughts on age or origin appreciated

i actually lost the ring when i got home as it was too wide for my pinky, went on a mad treck to replace my steps

got home and found it in the fridge after stacking up the beers:)

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

    NICE ring!!!

TWO filters applied.....TOP one enlarged 4X...LOOKS like it says in the large lozenge '4SK54E' and in small lozenge after it 925. (could also be something to the left of the 4)
THEN smaller image tried to clear for severe NOISE, looks like it says the same, with a small shield after the 925....but I could always be wrong....don't know about what the symbols are to the left of the large lozenges!

thank you my friend, that helps alot

i hate losing things, started off with me looking on the quay front, then the holiday makers started enquiring what i was looking for, then before long they were all helping me look !!

and all along it was in my fridge :)

thanks inh, yeah it does look like that, 925 inbetween a set of scales
i think the mark only goes back to around the 70s so dont think its a period piece

but if it had to fall somewhere im glad it was in the fridge:)

Looks like a hybrid hallmark, common in the later 20th century. The 925 in the scales is the international mark for silver, there's a further regular 925. Characters on the left are the sponsors mark and on the right is probably the London assay office mark (leopards head).

That brooch is a great find, charlie.
The control scales mark was first used in 1975 (the convention dates from 1972, but it took a few years for the mark to be used) so the ring is post 1975.
The seller places it a bit early, mid 19th century. I would say 1880s-90s. Still old enough.;):)

Yup, common control mark, modern ish ring. I agree the brooch is late 19th.

I like Appledore. Stayed in a lovely B&B in Bideford some years back a few times, used to go into Appledore to eat.
