Could any of these cats be Staffordshire, do you think?

I'm not sure what to look for besides the small hole and the concave, glazed bottom. What do you think of these guys, Staffordshire people?

I am not a Staffordshire expert, but they surely do appear to be. Please wait for other members to take a look and give you their opinions.

I'm like anti; I'm no expert, but from the little I know, it's a positive sign that the holes in the bottom are so small. Newer knockoffs leave a bigger opening.

Not surprising, Blooey are these fakes? Or what? How to tell?

Yes, if blooey would elaborate on their response it would be most helpful.

First I thought fake and then I decided the real deal. Now, I am waiting for the experts. I was born in Staffordshire, BTW.

The first set look all wrong. The colours are off, base has fake age, indent is far too sculpted, it's airbrush paint. Too white as well. Painting on the second set is unconvincing. Too mass made, and that over run on the blue is bad.

"Fake age" - can you elaborate a bit on that, please? What are the indicators of that? So you think the first one is a deliberate fake, not a knockoff?

FWIW, to my entirely untrained eye, none of them looked quite right, but I can't pinpoint why. Also I wouldn't know a Staffordshire piece if it fell on me.

    Trust your instinct.;)

The edge of the base isn't grubby in a way that something with age would be. It's random patches of missing glaze and the indent is way too machine squared.

I think both are repro. Possibly not brand new, but repro.

Some of the Pearlware models are quite white.

I think you are right! ;)
Now they appear made in China to my eyes! Thanks, Janice!
