Featured Could anyone tell me what this is???

    I have a water pot or wine vessel, I'm not saying it is, but could this possibly be Asian. To me it has a primitive look and the smoothness of the base from what I assume it sliding back and forth makes me feel like it is primitive. But it could be home decor. that's why I'm here because I honestly dont know. 15"Height 16048447248913.jpg

    My guess would be studio pottery. Flat bottom and circular marks probably from the wire used to free it from the wheel. PS - also is redware, which I didn’t notice before

    I think it is a stylised peacock, a much used symbol in Asia.

    I agree, it has Martaban similarities. Not a Martaban though, but the same general area of origin, Southeast-East coastal Asia. It looks like small Thai martaban-like storage vessels I've seen. It could have been made for home use, rather than maritime supplies like martabans.
