Hi Board Buddies - I bought this French plate recently. It was a good buy and looks entirely hand painted. I thought maybe it was a Samson plate but I can't find this mark. It could have been an attempt to copy a Sevres mark. Any ideas would be much appreciated. Plate is 9" Thanks for any help you can provide.

This is 3:00 o’clock position as shown in your photo. I rotated. Is this a signature?

@INH, GREAT EYES!!!! IT DOES look like a siggy to me....is that where one would put a signature??? Here's just an enlargement, and then with a filter...but both are blurry....your eyes are probably better than mine!!....unless Don can post a nice sharp image of just that area!!!????

I’m not sure about the location, and I’m prone to hallucinations!
    Thanks for image adjustment!

I just appreciate everyone that took a look. I know it's a tough question. Samson used so many marks.:arghh:

OK, so now I see less of a signature up at the end of the ROCK, BUT more of one to the LEFT of it where I've circled......HAHA.....mind you I'm getting to need a cataract done!!!! Looks like an 'm, j(or 'y') couple of letters I can't really see then ending in 'tic'......????? And as Don has said, could actually be nil!!! But was definitely worth a 'look-see'!!!

Sorry, just more paint squiggles I'm afraid. I half expected to see a signature. Most of the decals with similar scenes are signed Fragonard.

Fragonard was my first thought, too.
