Lil help on IDing these two pretty please. Came out of a very good old families old estate. Lovely frames if they weren’t so rough. Not hoping on much value here but would like to know who they are. I’m seeing … Ewer Sand for the guy. Grandfather of….? The inscription on the lady mentioned John so maybe the first name on back of his is supposed to be John? There was a John Ewer in Sandwich MA born 1743. I don’t even know what type of media these are. The guy almost looks like a photo of a painting. He died 1816 which so far as I know is before any photographic process. Anyways any thoughts or translations? I’m having a hard time making it out 7F0DA1C0-0E63-4F58-BE5D-F22737F8CA95.jpeg 4F737DDC-16E6-449E-AF34-188570850EAE.jpeg C70FD1A6-8651-4FD3-8FD9-2C6033F1B162.jpeg C29C8A43-B625-4049-B2C1-9D904D93E368.jpeg 4B124CCA-6B1B-46E0-8818-19EA650C71AF.jpeg

The original portraits probably went down a different line of the family.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Can you carefully take them out of the frames and carefully at least clean the glass?? BE sure it's VERY dry before putting them back in!!!! Should improve how they look, even though the frames are still in somewhat rough shape........

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Last name could also be Lund.

The granddaughter's name was Anne Catherine Ash Bankson. Her husband's name was Palmer Bankson. She lived from 1838-1922. Her father was Morgan Ash, and mother was Anne Catharine Sword Ash. Her mother's parents were Captain John Ewer Sword and Ann Catharine Dunn Sword. So the last name is Sword. I found some of this in Ancestry, which included Anne Bankson's death certificate. In order to be able to link to something all can see, here are Find A Grave entries for John Ewer Sword and his wife Ann Catharine Dunn Sword. They lived in Philadelphia, and also New Castle, Delaware. There is some family history included here.

I could………but I probably won’t :). I’ll likely move them on and let the next guy do so if they want. A lady just bought a book press from me and told me she put seven hours into cleaning it. I put seventeen seconds at most. I’m not a big cleaner unless it’s really going to up my price. I’d never stop cleaning with the amount of stuff I buy.

It’s so funny how it looks so much like Sword now and before I never in a million years would have guessed that. Thanks sooooo much for the information. Busy today but I’m looking forward to digging in and finding out more about them!
