I can do most of this research myself (search on Ebay: McCoy sold, highest first) but here is what's going on in case anyone has ideas.

Estate sale notification came in one hour ago on a really small email group I'm on, 4:05pm today (Sat). In other words at the end of a normal garage sale day just when I was planning what to do for "happy hour", lol. Description said "Huge collection of McCoy, Nogales Mexico masks, EVERYTHING in the house must go" and they didn't even list the address. Said to "call this number" for address. Called and they were still open.

Turns out, only 4 blocks away, I'm there in a flash. 400 pieces of McCoy and probably 50-100 (Mexican?) face masks. They did not advertise this well, I'm not sure anyone even went today (!) and I guess sale is happening tomorrow and Monday, too.

I did a lightning fast self-tutorial for McCoy on my phone while the sellers weren't looking, did not notice anything remotely close to the Ebay top McCoy sales at the house. Nothing figural, for example. LOTS of pitchers, planters. I got this for $15, see below (grabbed the pic off Ebay) which turns out was fair price but not a steal (Ebay one they are asking $38) but I just kinda liked it and went with visual only.

Also got a Deco-ish pottery lamp which I will post in a day or two for thoughts, but not McCoy. So they were kind of closing up, but clearly had things they had not brought out yet, so you can believe I'm going to be back at the opening hour tomorrow. They basically didn't advertise.

I know McCoy prices are WAY down, but any general tips??

That's a really pretty pitcher. I can't tell you what to buy or not buy but I can tell you I've sold a couple vases, some pots and 2 elephant planters in the last 4-6 weeks. Most were marked but some not. Colors sell better than white or cream. Onyx glazes too.

Thank you, Kronos. VERY helpful! Just went through many of those pages. Great idea and thank you for linking those.

It was a bit overwhelming in this house honestly, poor lighting, cramped. Tables, shelves, filled with McCoy--but all I saw so far was many, many single colored pitchers, vases and some small planters. Nothing figural, no cookie jars, no animals, etc. However they were pulling some more stuff out even as I was there at 5pm, so I'll definitely swing back in the morning. I will say that the sellers were very friendly, which was nice.

    Will report back.

Lucille-You're an inspiring role model of how hard we have to work these days to find the truly great pieces-bravo !

    Well.......

Sort of a disappointing follow up. No new items appeared at the sale and worse still, they had cordoned off two rooms I was allowed to snoop around in yesterday. So it was essentially the lower end McCoy that I saw yesterday, things that are listed at less than $20 (asking) on Ebay. Always possible there was some sleeper I missed but did not wind up buying more McCoy.

I did get a handsome DANSK wooden tray, and wound up buying a few of the Mexican folk art masks. We'll see how I do in the end.

I heard from the owner that tomorrow someone who purchases "entire estates" is coming to make an offer on what's left --and there is a TON. I think they only had 5 people at the sale, and people weren't buying much.

Still, it was super fun and the seller was a really nice chap, and I learned a bit about McCoy in the process!

Thanks for the help and tips!

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

All great! I hope you continue to have good luck with finding interesting items.
