Featured Cruet set..glass & silver plate ...art deco....is it old enough....?

    The glass unremarkable .....but together with the stand , it's got a look !!!
    MCM, maybe ..,not deco !

    I think this might be older than Art Deco. It's a gorgeous set and appears to be in spectacular condition.

    They're calling this work secessionist ....what ever that is.....circa 1904...

    now seeing the photo i found in post 6...i'm wondering if my glass is newer replacements.....cuz the cruets in that pic...are stunning...and may be more to the period..?

    They do echo the grid pattern on the stand.

    Think Charles Rennie Mackintosh: he did a lot of that squared piercing. It's Arts and Crafts transitioning to Art Nouveau here, seccessionist to Jugendstihl on the Continent.

    Hi,
    Beautiful set!!! I have a letter opener with the same squared holes. Wonderful wonderful set, love the handles also. Very very nice indeed.

    Your set is Viennese, by the way. It's interesting that the bottles would have been relatively old fashioned when this was made.

    More likely Hans Ofner than Mackintosh.

    But do we have reason to believe bottles are original? (From style, they certainly don't appear to be.)

    Maybe bottles are original and just the stoppers are replacement?
