    Hello!

We visited a flea market in Lviv and came across a figurine of a crustacean in one of the antique stalls. We fell in love with it, purchased, and are now wondering what era it comes from. I guess it's not a soviet figurine as there's no price imprint. It reminds me of the Etruscan art but it's in a great shape and definitely doesn't date back to the time. Has anyone seen such an animal before?

Cheryl has already given you a very good lead. Followimg it, you will be able to do exactly what we would do: click on photos of items that are most similar & see what further information can be found at the related sites. Often you learn a little in one place that gives you an idea for another way to search.

It does look like African lost wax casting. Perhaps from Burkina Faso. There are several examples of bronze scorpion amulets online, attributed to the Gan people of Burkina Faso.

It's pretty thick, has three legs, is about 20 cm long and weighs around 0,5 kg. Looks like bronze to me but I'm not an expert.

They sure are similar but looks like the amulets are rather flat

Hmm. Much bigger than the Gan amulets. What are the light colored spots on the bottom of the legs? - shiny metal, or some other material exposed?
