Hello everyone! I'm looking for a little help with these crossed sword marks. It's a large cup and saucer. The cup measures 2 1/2" high and 4" across the top. The saucer is 6" across and just a little under 1" high. Does anyone recognize them? Thanks very much for whatever information you can provide.

Chris Marshall has a whole page of crossed swords marks on his PM&M (pottery marks and more) site. And Meissen has all of their marks on their page.

Thanks Jen and George - I checked Chris's page and it's not showing there. It looks like a legitimate Meissen mark but I don't think the quality is there. On the other hand, my experience with Meissen is very, very limited. Both pieces are from a very nice mold. I was surprised all those little edges survived without chips.

I think it looks ok for Meissen, this mark was used 1860-1924.

Thank you, Mat! I prowled around eBay and found several examples of my cup and saucer for sale as Meissen so it looks like it's the real deal.

Isnt Meissen one of the most copied marks in existence ? I could be wrong, but I just don't see Meissen when I look at this set?

The gilding bothers me, but the mark looks good. I have seen photos of gilded plates with modded maple leaf design similar to OP's duo.

This is most likely an older Meissen. Meissen pieces have other printing or engraved numbers underneath besides crossed swords. The crossed sword is under glaze, so they stay mostly intact What do you think ?
