I recently bought some cutlery / flatware at auction but can't work out pattern. I think it is silver but the hallmark / makers marks are badly worn. Any help gratefully appreciated!

    Thanks

    Welcome, Aberdonian!

Very pretty design. Kind of filigree-ish. From the diamond design registration mark on the ferule we can conclude that it's 1883 or earlier (I think.) I realize you've said the marks are badly worn, but how about posting a picture anyway. Choose the piece that seems least worn of the lot and we'll see what we can do with it. Are the marks on the knife blades?

That's a British registration diamond on the band of the handle, indeed. Unusual pattern.
